Key findings of the BSI Computer Theft Survey:

Computer theftAlmost half (47.1%) of the survey respondents have been the victim of computer theft in the last 12 months.

many computers stolenOver three quarters (76.3%) of respondent companies had between 1 and 9 computers stolen in the last 12 months; more than 1 in 10 (11.3%) respondent companies had more than 25 computers stolen in the last 12 months.

high value of lost computers83.4% of respondents report the estimated value of proprietary data on their stolen computing device at $25,000 or less; 14.6% estimated the value at $1,000.000 or more and 2% estimated the value at more than $10,000,000.
